PIBYC Commodore's Greeting
(from the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club 2001 Yearbook)

A sincere welcome to each of you to the new millennium at the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club. The year 2001 is underway and I feel most honored to serve as your Commodore. I am most thankful for a superb group of leaders who are an integral part of the yacht club leadership. Vice Commodore Jack Lain, Rear Commodore Mike Kreutzberg, Fleet Captain Pati Arth and Ladies Auxiliary President Linda Buttrey, along with the Board of Trustees have been making plans for a busy summer schedule. Treasurer Carolyn Zahn and Secretary Richard French are sharing their expertise in keeping accurate records and continuing to steer us in the direction of sound fiscal responsibility.

Project Manager is an additional leadership role initiated for this year. Special thanks to P/C Reni Miller for accepting this position of coordinating the major undertaking of the implementation of a full bar service for our members and guests.

This is the third season that we will be utilizing a club manager. For the past two years, P/C Steve Cooks helped chart this new course of in-house management. He so ably met the needs that come with the ongoing changes of a viable, growing organization. This part-time position will be filled this year by co-managers Sharon Conte and Cheryl Harrington. They will assist in keeping an orderly day to day operation during the various activities and the rentals of the Club House.

A long range plan is in process with Trustee Fred Schnoor at the helm. This retired school superintendent has so graciously offered to share his expertise in efficient organization planning. For those of you who will be involved, a big thank you in advance for the commitment to furthering the positive growth of this Club. A special thank you to Linda Dettmer for all her patience and efforts in publishing this yearbook plus keeping us well-informed of all activities via the on-going Jib Sheet.

I commend every member for all your support and hard work over the years that have made this Club into what it is today. I look forward to working with you in your various areas of responsibility as the traditions continue that we all value and enjoy throughout the summer.
